A course designed specifically for those concerned with ethical problems facing medical professionals and generally for anyone with an interest in the relation of ethics to bio-medical issues. This course examines ethical issues related to biotechnology and health care, including history and philosophy. Specific topics include: the Nursing Code of Ethics, bioethics committees, prenatal testing, human subject testing, medical error, big data, designer babies, prenatal testing, and abortion. Students explore hypothetical and actual cases of bioethical dilemmas. Viewpoints examined are those engaged in the nursing profession.
